Frequently Asked Questions (But Definitely Not All the questions)
What can I expect in the sauna?
Our sauna is wood fired, so the heat can go as high as 200 degrees, but we recommend between 150-190. Once the temperature gets above 150, it is there for most of the day. You can cool down by leaving the sauna enclosure area and hanging out in the foyer or outside.
A typical sauna session consists of three, 10 -12 minute rounds in the sauna with 3-5 minutes between sessions to cool down, relax and rehydrate (cold plunge highly recommended).
Who Can Use the sauna?
You must not use the sauna if you:
suffer from high or low blood pressure or any heart or circulatory disorder or suffer from epilepsy or diabetes;
are pregnant; or
are prone to dizziness or fainting.
If you are pregnant or have any underlying health problems, please seek advice from your doctor before booking. Listen to your body, take lots of breaks, and keep hydrated.
*Remember to sign our waiver form before arriving for your session.
Do I have to wear swimwear in the sauna?
As our saunas are located in public locations, swimwear is compulsory for all our experiences - nudity is not permitted in the saunas. We ask that every customer sits on a towel at all times in the sauna.
What should I bring with me?
Due to limited space, we advise bringing minimal personal belongings with you to the sauna. You'll need:
Swimwear
A water bottle
Two towels; one to sit on in the sauna, and one to dry off with at the end
Swim shoes or sandals are recommended for bookings at all outdoor locations; please note all swim shoes / flip flops will need to be removed prior to entering the sauna.
For the winter months, we advise bringing warm, loose clothing to change back into post-sauna.
Where can I leave my belongings?
Due to limited space, we advise bringing minimal personal belongings with you.:
You will be able to leave your belongings in the changing area at your own risk. There are no lockers, but you'll have your own hook to hang your belongings on and a shelf for smaller items. Any overflow of belongings that don't fit in the changing room will need to be left outside.
Trailhead Saunas (& all it’s locations) are not responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged personal belongings.
What time should I arrive before my session?
We suggest arriving promptly at the time of your booked sauna slot to allow time for briefing. Changing times are included in your booking; arriving late will shorten the duration of your experience. Allow 15-20 minutes before your session start time for parking, checking in and changing, and making your way to the Sauna for your sauna session.
What can I expect from the changing room?
There is a foyer room as you enter the sauna, separated by a swinging glass door, providing a heat barrier for the sauna room, as well as an area for you to leave your belongings. Please note the glass door is see through, so if you are not wearing the proper bathing attire underneath your clothes, you will want to change in the public restroom, or at your car prior to arriving to the sauna. At some locations Trailhead Saunas may provide changing tents, see booking details for that option.
Lost & Found
Any lost and found items will be stored at the sauna for 14 days. If not collected within this time, any items will be given to charity / discarded.
If you think you may have left behind any items, please get in touch via email to see if we can locate the item and store it until you're able to collect (within 14 days).
Trrailhead Saunas is not responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged personal belongings.
Where can I have the sauna set up? (Private Rentals and Events)
Full set-up size 25ft. x 10ft. (11ft. height clearance) Sauna can stay overnight in a yard or driveway only – may not be parked in the street or parking lot.
